Cycling for fun is a self help group, with members taking it in turn to lead about one ride during the season. All types of bike are welcome; it's non-competitive, with a stop near the top of each hill for everyone to catch up

Pictures from a recent ride

We normally assemble for rides at 9.45 am, with a prompt 10.0 am start, generally on the 2nd Tuesday and 4th Thursday of each month. Rides are graded according to the terrain: Grade 1 for flat or nearly flat to Grade 4 for steep hills,

All planned rides will be subject to suitable weather conditions and may be cancelled, advanced or postponed by the Ride Leader, sometimes at short notice. It will be their decision.

Thursday 24th October

Distance: 23 Miles Grade: 2/4 with some off road stretches and not suited to narrow tyres Assemble at 9.45 am, with Start time of 10.0 am prompt Ride Leader:Christine, Backmarker: tba Meet in the small car park to the right and to the front of Sainsbury's fuel station in Liphook. Cycle to B2070 (oldA3) and turn L onto that road. Continue until reaching Rake Primary school, turn R. Along here take a L onto Reeds Lane, part of Shipwrights Way, then next R where it joins Warren Lane to the end. Turn R into Forest Road, then in 200m L into Shipwrights Way cycle path to Liss through woodland to the end. Turn R into Station Road to the end. L into Farnham Road to the roundabout then 2nd L to coffee stop at Hilliers Garden Centre.

Turn L on exit and join the cycle path which then runs alongside A3 until end. R turn into Tankerdale Lane and under the A3. After about 2 miles the road climbs steadily until near the top where there is a sharp climb with a right sharp bend to the summit where we wait on the right to regroup. ( This section after Steep Marsh is 1:6 gradient).

Ride along this narrow up and down lane to the end where we turn R onto Hawkley Road (this passes over the A3). At end turn R onto Farnham Road and 2nd L into Liss. Take the cycle path L just before the railway station to the end. Continue straight across the road onto MOD land. This is a wide track with many potholes which you need to watch out for. Ride along this track over the bridge then turn L as you come off the bridge (still MOD). Be careful where the concrete rejoins the stoney surface of the track. Ride until a narrow L path (1/4 miles) through the wooded area to meet the roundabout on the A3. 1st L then straight at next roundabout over bridge the prepare to go R onto cycle path and travel along the side of south travelling traffic of A3 until end where a single gate leads onto the Longmoor Road at Liphook and cycle to the end into Liphook and Sainsburys.
